The colour themes

Color mood

Summer 2009 finds its balance between paleness, freshness and colour, tinted by calm and serenity... and occasionally seized by a longing for excess. In a strong ecological influence, the season propulses beiges to their zenith, and in so doing sweeps the last seasons greys under the table. Warm, blond beiges offering rich shades of honey and pale woods. For an elegant, even luxurious ecology, far from the habitual clichés.
Second key point: a wave of blues flood the palette with a marvellously fresh, clean feeling, offering a tonic, purifying strength...invigorating the the tranquillity of beiges. Romanticism remains in the air, adding the softness of almost evanescent washed pastel tones, which in turn will be greatly disturbed by an eruption of acid colours of chemical, sometimes even violent accents. Just like a simple touch of surrealistic madness,
Then calmed once more by bleached, faded, softened colours forming a background, a kind of reassuring base serving as foil to any eventual colour excess. Even the palette of dark tones has a tendency to be lightened, for an evolution towards more subtle, earthy tones.

Blond

The luxury of blondness, like a new, pure and elegant lifestyle. The blondness of fruit tree woods, the blondness of polished woods and light woods rubbed with beeswax, like a fragrant balm. And also the blondness of refined straw marquetry amidst a sophisticated decor.
All these blonds evoke a world of natural, essential colours, subtly tinted by the simple enhancement of their surfaces: waxed, transparent gum-lacquered or inlaid with mother-of-pearl. This blondness is accompanied by warmer, slightly ambery tones, lending a warm gleam to the sandy beiges.

Pure

Like an enormous wave, blues envelop us in a surge of intense freshness. A salutary breeze, like a breth of fresh air, combining with pure, still water for an new feeling of well-being. Blue makes us feel lighter, floating above the material. Between air and water, distance is abolished, smoothy greyish haze is floating over the vast ocean. The body naturally diving into the deepest of oceans, seeking to recharge its batteries, passing through blue strata in an abundance of different shades: greenish and turquoise blues, purplish blues, cobalt blue, and going as far as the inky blues of the great depths. Flowing through the oceans, blue links civilizations and artistic cultures, from the engravings of Hokusai and Hiroshige in Japan, to the blues of Matisse and Klein, and the indigos of Africa. Blues come thus together, in calm and total serenity, justifying their essential position this season.

Tender

A romantic garden straight out of the imagination. Fragile flowers wave in the wind´s caress, light passing through their delicate petals. Pale pastel shades of yellow, pinkish and bluish tones painted by  subtle brush, colouring the scene and inventing a flower bed  of anemones and narcissus. But suddenly, the brush is seized with a kind of euphoria, dipping its fine point in acidic concoctions of orange and green, enlivening the decidedly over ingenuous ambience of the garden. In a madly creative movement it invents hallucinatory poppies and exotic, flashly pink flowers. Paying no mind to season or climate, the garden exults in a gush of exhilarating colours.

Fragile

Bits of colour, like little treasures washed up on the beach, or everyday objects found in an abandoned house...
The ebb of the tide leaves its trace in the form of objects both joyous and nostalgic, a source of inspiration, like a game for he who finds them and knows just how to breathe new life into them, rich in fresh assemblages.
The colours are slightly faded, evoking varnished ceramics: bluish or yellowish greens, pale gold, pinky-terracotta, faded mauves...
Changeable colours whose prime vocation is to associate amongst themselves, increasing each other´s value, and always ready to create new, poetic stories.
